Legos are perfect for social play, and this Hogwarts castle set provides loads of exploration and cooperative play with 943 pieces.  | Set includes step-by-step color diagrams
showing how to complete the model. | The set is modeled so that, when constructed, it recreates the look and feel of the Order of the Phoenix film. Several unique rooms are represented here, including the Room of Requirement, where Harry can get just about anything he wishes (provided he walks past it three times). The greenhouse provides a place where Hermione can tend a potted mandrake, which is included. There's even a fireplace through which Harry could exchange messages with Sirius Black, only there are no owls included. The accessory pieces of the set are loads of fun. It includes orange flames, tiny goblets, trophy ribbons, jewels, magic books, charts and many other interesting pieces. While most Lego playsets come with just a few minifigs, this one is packed with almost the entire cast. Harry and his companions Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley are included, along with Hogwarts staffers Hagrid, Professors Dumbledore, Snape, and the evil Dolores Umbridge. Potter will also have to contend with his nemesis, a newly designed Draco Malfoy who sports a mischievous grin, and a Death Eater. The playset also introduces two Thestral minifigs modeled after the large, winged, skeletal horses from the fifth installment. With almost a thousand pieces, kids between 7 and 12 will likely take a few hours to put it all together into a finished playset. Fortunately, Lego includes colorful, step-by-step diagrams that makes construction--pardon me for saying it--a snap. Frustrating Fun with Hogwarts August 25, 2008

I have now assisted 3 grandsons assembling this castle. It is not a speedy task but one they will stick to and enjoy with a little help and a lot of encouragement. A great addition to the Lego line. The children I worked with were from 6 to 9 years old and deeply fascinated with the different aspects i.e. people figures, different outbuildings and the main building. It is worth its rather expensive price.

This was my first set of Legos, and yes, I am an adult. I thought it was challenging enough for my tween children to help me, and still fun for me as well. Plus, the Hogwarts Castle turned out really cool. Harry and the other characters are great looking. Especially Hagrid! The only negative thing I could nit-pick about was the castle is a lot smaller that you would expect. (Comparative to other Lego castles.) Great Lego set for the Harry Potter fan!

My husband and I purchased this item for our son as his gift from Santa this year. Imagine our disappointment when the set was missing 22 pieces, (which we didn't discover, of course, until we started assembling it)... Our son handled the story that santa and the elves had a rough year ok, but it has been very hard on him waiting for the replacement pieces to come so we can finish building his castle. It was all he wanted and we were not happy to dispapoint him.
On a good note, customer assistance DID order replacement parts, once my husband was able to get someone on the line and keep them there. So all's well that ends well, I guess. Legos' are legendary... all kids love them... and so it should be.
