This is one of the more recent additions to the Thomas Lego Duplo collection. In fact, when we purchased it, you couldn't find it on the Thomas or Lego websites. If your child is a collector -- and mine is -- you have to get this very clever addition. The crane is secured on a rotating lego bracket that allows it to move very much like you would expect.

Great toy. My son loves cranky and plays with this toy all the time. Wasn't hard to assemble. Top pops off from time to time but goes back on easily.

My son, who just turned three, received this toy as a gift. It is impossible to put together, so he's constantly bugging me to do it for him. I struggle with this thing myself, and have to keep looking at the picture on the box in order to get it together correctly. It is especially difficult to get the top part of Cranky fitted onto the yellow revolving disc, and sometimes I just give up (to the sound of screaming and crying) because I am simply unable to get it to fit together. I'm obviously doing something wrong, since another review here says it's easy for a three-year-old to assemble! I much prefer regular Legos that kids can put together using imagination. This is something that has to be constructed just so, and it's a pain.

We have found that Lego Cranky is a nice addition to our Island of Sodor. Besides having the advantage of being much cheaper than many of the other Crankies, he works with the rest of the Lego Steamies, and the other Thomas rail lines, as well.
Pros:
--is a more complicated assemblage than some of the other Lego Thomas and Friends additions and so fills that need for a challenge
--he's big and fun
--the kit comes with cargo and those all-so-useful troublesome trucks
--this Cranky has a nice pulley system (string with a hook). The hook has an end-piece which fits a standard Duplo block and the cargo included in the kit
--Cranky also rotates. It has a super large rotating block unit
Cons:
--Cranky has a more complicated assemblage that might be too challenging for the very young
--it is sometimes difficult to align the 'nubs' on the rotating unit to fit correctly
Five Stars. Lego Cranky is just a lot of fun. The kit comes with a few pieces of track, Cranky, cargo, two troublesome trucks and more. The pieces work with the standard Duplo Lego blocks so there is lots of opportunity to build. Very affordable which you will know if you have checked out the other big Crankies.

My son just turned three and he got this for his birthday. He loves putting the pieces together to make Cranky and using the pully to load & unload cargo in the truck. He also loves to attach the truck to his Percy car (sold separately) and push them around on the tracks. He's great at putting Cranky together properly and he loves taking him apart again.
The Legos make a sturdy crane and the pieces are the perfect size for preschoolers' small hands. This is a great learning toy and it works well with other Duplo products. A great gift for a Thomas fan!
